When Damien started Cooley Auctions, an auctioneering business that conducts auctions for many real estate agencies around Sydney, he was keen to make sure that the business made a worthwhile contribution back to the community. Damien set up the Cooley Golf Classic, an annual golf day held in May, specifically to raise money for Youth Off The Streets. Both Board members have chosen to remain anonymous, and instead they would to take the opportunity to recognise the tireless work of the Youth Off The Streets Development team in their efforts to raise the necessary funds, promote the organisation and act as support for the many services provided by YOTS. Hence, this sponsorship is named The Development Scholarship.

Youth Off the Streets seemed the perfect solution! Rev. Jorie is an Anglican priest in the parish of St Luke’s, Gulgong and believes the Spiritual life is one which seeks relationship and God of the everyday!

The Mary Rossi Travel team unanimously selected the YOTS Scholarship Program. We strongly identify with the organisation's creed to help disadvantaged young people to have a chance to make something of their lives.

We like the idea that through our contribution we could make a difference to one young person's life. The main attraction is that this person is not anonymous. We have a real flesh & blood person whom we can cheer along through every small & and not so small victory through regular updates we receive. It is heart warming to know that our contribution may change one life. We love our involvement in the programme.

It was discussed at a meeting of members & the decision reached was
  • We needed a local charity
  • We needed a well known charity & both charities needed to be children’s charities & where our money went within those charities was non Government funded.
Hence after a number of months of fundraising our first donation to Youth Off The Streets was made in July 2005 to the Scholarship Program. The first recipient was Brett, second William, third Josh, fourth Ryan & our fifth is Beau.
