An Invitation to the Community:
Bunita (Beautiful) Night - A fundraising event for Timor Leste.

On Saturday, June 30 the talent of Macquarie Fields will shine at the Bunita Night fundraising event for an orphanage in Baguia, Timor Leste (East Timor).

Youth Off The Streets Overseas Relief Fund would like to invite all members of the Macquarie Fields and surrounding community to a fundraising event organised by the trainee youth workers at Macquarie Fields Outreach. The Bunita (Beautiful) Night is a fun-filled variety show with performers such as dancers, musicians and rappers performing throughout the evening followed by a community BBQ.

All proceeds from the Bunita night will go towards providing aid to an orphanage in Baguia. The six trainees who have organised the evening have accompanied Father Riley to visit the orphanage in Baguia, as part of the Youth Off The Streets Service Learning programme. Each trainee says their lives have changed with the visit.

" Some people will always take their life for granted- not us," said Trainee Youth Worker Jennifer Misifosa.

" We realise that we are lucky –even if some people think we have it hard- Nothing in Macquarie fields is as hard as it is in Timor Leste . We have so much compared with the orphans, that is why we want to hold Bunita Night Beautiful Night- to help them," she continued.

“I am really proud of these trainees, they are great kids who have the determination required to make a difference. This Bunita night will not only help the young children in Baguia, but will also enhance the community spirit in Macquarie Fields and surrounding areas as the community will see the talent its young people have” said Father Riley, CEO and Founder, Youth Off The Streets.

All funds raised will go towards establishing a food programme for the orphans, buying fruit and vegetables regularly to improve their diet and their health. Youth Off The Streets would like to encourage community to attend on the details below:

About Youth Off The Streets:

Youth Off The Streets is a community organisation working for young people who are chronically homeless, drug dependent and recovering from abuse. We support these young people as they work to turn their lives around and overcome immense personal traumas such as neglect and physical, psychological and emotional abuse.

Since opening in 1991, Youth Off The Streets has grown from a single food van delivering meals to young homeless people on the streets of Kings Cross to a major youth specific agency providing a wide range of services offering a full continuum of care.

It is our goal that these young people will leave our care drug free, with a high school education, living skills and a full or part time job in hand.
